We love to provide a destination at Bonar Hall for special moments. Be that for groups of families or friends; if they are important to you, they are important to us. Come and celebrate, we know the significance of these occasions, so it is our role to make your special day more special.

You can go wild with your planning and make the most of Bonar Hall’s blank canvas! Whether you have your own ideas about how you would like the space to look, or you are still looking for inspiration, we can assist no matter your request. We have the furniture, the linen, the music equipment, the bars, everything that you need. We will also be on-hand to support the VIPs (for instance, the bridal party!), taking the stress away from the organisers and keeping the day running to your timetable.

You can personalise the day as much as you wish with the schedule, décor, and venue layout all being flexible – even the bar position can be changed! – whilst we can also create bespoke menu designs and event lighting, all in tune with how you want the day to flow. It is yours to enjoy! The professional team at Bonar Hall is one of the most dynamic and skilled in Dundee, with expertise incorporating all aspects of event management, set-up, decorating, food, drink, light & sound production – covering the full A-Z of services for your booking!

Larger groups can take over the main ballroom or possibly the full Bonar Hall building, whilst smaller parties may be interested in hiring one of our other venues.

Private Booking FAQs

• How much does it cost to hire the venue?

Hire fees are customised dependent on a range of factors, such as the number of people, duration of event, technical requirements and volume of catering that is ordered.

•  What parties do you suggest for those with smaller groups and/or those wanting an informal venue?

Lots of smaller groups will prefer to book out one of our private bar sites rather than Bonar Hall itself. These are staffed with the same positive attitude and are perfect for more informal bar events, such as BBQs, smaller birthday parties and the like, with views down to the River Tay.

• What is your maximum capacity?

We can accommodate up to 600 in the main hall for an event with the specific maximums very much reliant on the layouts that are planned. For instance, our usual dinner event capacity is 300, however, please talk to your event coordinator as these numbers can be increased/decreased, dependent on how the stage is being used, if a dance floor is required.

• What sort of catering menus do you offer?

Our usual catering menus are detailed here, but we can also create a bespoke offer if you have a specific request. Our kitchen crew is led by former UK Chef of the Year Andrew Brodie and our professional team are happy to be completely flexible in accommodating your catering needs.

• What services do you offer to your private parties?

We can organise décor, sound, DJs, karaoke, lighting (disco and/or with specific colours if you have a preference, and even set in time to your music), as well as professional party hosts, celebration cakes, BBQs or other bespoke catering. You can potentially bring your own external catering supplier, but we prefer to use our own, please just let us know what you hope for and we will make it happen!
